Hi all, My name is John, I wanted to tell my story on how the Lord came into my life. First thought you need to have a prospective on where I came from. I grew up in a non-religious family. My family life was disturbing with my father's addiction problems and his anger management issues. This is never a good combination. I could tell you the level of abuse by giving individual stories, but I thought I could give you the broader idea instead. My family was disfunctional, like most families today in America. My father would beat me using various household items as weapons. As I grew older it became more difficult for him to control me with his threats and he would use scare tatics such as pointing fire arms at me. This countine for some time. I ran away serveral times and wanted to escape this house of horrors but the state just kept placing me back. I was rescued out this house finally when a Christian family took me in during my senior year of high school. They were such a loving family and I wanted to be a part of it. Love is not a big deal until you get a taste of it. When you do it is like a whole new world is open to you. I went to church and participated. I wanted people to accept me, so when I realized what made them happy I did it. At this time it is possible that I decieved myself that I was a Christian. My motives were not pure I just wanted to be a part of the group. I can not really say when i became a Christian It could of been when I was living with that family or it could havew been when I decided to live for Christ and not for myself. When that took place I really can not say. This reason for this testimony is make sure that when you say your a Christian in fact you are what you say you are. It is difficult for me to know when I became a Christian but I know now that it is a matter of perserving in the faith and belive in the knowledge of Christ.
